Le Morne Cultural Landscape — UNESCO
UNESCO cultural landscape commemorating the enslaved people who took refuge on Le Morne's cliffs — a symbol of freedom.
Pointe Jérôme is a spectacular advanced dive site off the south-western tip of Mauritius near Le Morne, where the reef wall plunges into deep water and strong currents bring large pelagic species close to shore. Eagle rays, guitar sharks, and occasional whale sharks are encountered here, along with enormous schools of jack and barracuda. The strong currents require that divers have at least 30 logged dives. Local dive operators in Le Morne run daily trips with thorough current briefings before every departure.
