Le Morne Cultural Landscape — UNESCO
UNESCO cultural landscape commemorating the enslaved people who took refuge on Le Morne's cliffs — a symbol of freedom.

The SSR Botanical Garden at Pamplemousses is the oldest botanical garden in the Southern Hemisphere, established in the 1770s as a provisioning station for ships on the spice route. The 37-hectare garden contains an extraordinary collection of palms from around the world, ancient trees labelled with their scientific names, and the famous giant Victoria amazonica water lilies whose pads can support the weight of a small child. The garden is home to giant Aldabra tortoises, free-roaming peacocks, and rare endemic trees not found in the wild. A guided tour reveals 250 years of botanical and colonial history.
