Le Morne Cultural Landscape — UNESCO
UNESCO cultural landscape commemorating the enslaved people who took refuge on Le Morne's cliffs — a symbol of freedom.
The wide, shallow lagoon at Anse La Raie near Cap Malheureux on the north coast provides excellent conditions for kitesurfing instruction and freestyle practice. The flat water and consistent north-easterly trade winds make it ideal for beginners learning their first water starts and for intermediate riders working on tricks and transitions. Several IKO-certified schools operate from the beach, and equipment rental is readily available. The uncrowded conditions and lack of reef hazards make it one of the safest learning environments on the island.
