Le Morne Cultural Landscape — UNESCO
UNESCO cultural landscape commemorating the enslaved people who took refuge on Le Morne's cliffs — a symbol of freedom.
For those who prefer to stay dry, the glass-bottom boat excursions departing from Grand Baie's waterfront offer a window into the reef ecosystem without requiring any swimming ability. The 90-minute trips circle the Grand Baie reef, passing over coral gardens where parrotfish, angelfish, and sea turtles are regularly visible through the glass panels in the hull. A snorkelling stop in a shallow area is included for those who wish to get in the water. Trips run morning and afternoon and are particularly popular with families and older travellers.
