Le Morne Cultural Landscape — UNESCO
UNESCO cultural landscape commemorating the enslaved people who took refuge on Le Morne's cliffs — a symbol of freedom.
The Frederica Nature Reserve at Bel Ombre covers over 1,300 hectares of southern Mauritius and is home to deer, wild boar, monkeys, giant tortoises, and a wide variety of endemic birds. Safari jeep tours, horse riding through the reserve, quad biking along trails, and guided nature walks are all available through the Heritage resort group. The vast forested estate gives a genuine sense of Mauritius's wild interior, and morning safari tours timed to wildlife feeding patterns maximise animal sightings.
