Le Morne Cultural Landscape — UNESCO
UNESCO cultural landscape commemorating the enslaved people who took refuge on Le Morne's cliffs — a symbol of freedom.
The Domaine de Labourdonnais in Mapou is a working fruit estate and heritage property offering guided tours of its beautifully preserved 19th-century colonial mansion, lychee orchards, rum distillery, and fruit processing facilities. The tour traces the story of one of Mauritius's oldest agricultural estates, and visitors finish in the estate cellar tasting the estate's own rum, lychee wine, and fruit liqueurs. The manor house, with its original furniture and colonial artefacts, is the finest private heritage interior open to the public in Mauritius.
