Le Morne Cultural Landscape — UNESCO
UNESCO cultural landscape commemorating the enslaved people who took refuge on Le Morne's cliffs — a symbol of freedom.
The Rhumerie de Chamarel is the island's most acclaimed artisan rum distillery, nestled in the hills above the Seven Coloured Earths. The guided tour walks visitors through every stage of production — cane pressing, fermentation in open vats, single-column pot still distillation, and barrel aging in the underground cellar — before concluding with a guided tasting of the full range. The distillery produces some of the finest agricole-style rums in the world, and the tasting room's panoramic terrace overlooking the Chamarel valley is one of the most beautiful spots on the island for a mid-morning rum flight.
