Mauritius Cetacean Research and Tours

Mauritius Cetacean Research and Tours runs commercial whale and dolphin watching trips in direct partnership with the Mauritius Marine Conservation Society, contributing 20% of all revenues to the society's long-running cetacean research programme. Every trip contributes to the ongoing photo-ID database of individual whales and dolphins, and passengers are invited to help spot and photograph flukes and fins for identification. The educational element is substantial — a pre-trip briefing covers cetacean biology, the threats facing Indian Ocean populations, and what responsible wildlife tourism looks like in practice.
