About La Palmeraie at Paradis Beachcomber

La Palmeraie, the main beach restaurant at Paradis Beachcomber in Le Morne, has one of the most coveted locations of any dining room in Mauritius — set among the coconut palms at the edge of the world-famous Le Morne lagoon, with the iconic basalt mountain rising behind it. It's an all-day restaurant that anchors the resort's food offering: breakfast with freshly squeezed fruit juices and Mauritian-style rotis, a midday seafood buffet featuring the morning's catch from the hotel's own fishing trips, and an à la carte dinner that gives the kitchen room to show its range. The wood-fired grill is the centrepiece: Mauritian lobster split and charred over ironwood embers, ribs braised in dark rum and local spices, and a whole fish of the day stuffed with herbs from the kitchen garden. The Creole buffet nights (Thursdays) are legendary among guests who return year after year — an immense spread of island dishes prepared in traditional earthenware pots: cari bringelle (aubergine curry), vindaye poisson, rougaille saucisse, and a dozen more. The setting at golden hour, with the sun dropping behind Le Morne mountain and turning the lagoon to copper, makes La Palmeraie one of those rare restaurants where the view and the food compete for attention.
