Moka Smart City

Moka Smart City is a smart city development project in central Mauritius, part of the Mauritius government's Smart City Scheme designed to create integrated live-work-play urban communities.

The Smart City Scheme (SCS) was introduced by the Mauritius Board of Investment to attract international investment into next-generation urban development. Smart cities combine residential zones, commercial offices, retail, education, healthcare, and leisure within a single planned development — reducing commute times and creating integrated communities.

Foreign nationals purchasing property in an approved Smart City development qualify for a Mauritian residence permit when the purchase exceeds USD 375,000, under the same conditions as the Property Development Scheme (PDS). Smart city developments are designed to attract multinational companies and professional families alongside permanent residents.

Key features of smart city developments include fibre optic connectivity throughout, managed green spaces, on-site retail and F&B, proximity to international schools, and often healthcare facilities. Many smart cities are located near the expressway for easy access to Port Louis (15–20 minutes) and Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.
