Tamassa Bel Ombre is a vibrant all-inclusive resort nestled along a pristine white-sand beach in Mauritius' southwest.…
The Bay Guest House & Restaurant at Blue Bay in the south-east is one of the most charming small properties on the island — a handful of rooms above an excellent restaurant on the edge of Blue Bay Marine Park, where the beach is twenty metres from the dining terrace and the reef is visible in the water below at low tide. It is run by a couple who came to Mauritius on holiday and never left, and the property carries their personal aesthetic: driftwood furniture they sourced from the beaches, locally made hanging lights, and a garden that is more jungle than lawn. The restaurant, which serves guests and the wider public, has developed a reputation for genuinely good cooking — the wood-fired octopus with chimichurri and the coconut crab curry are the dishes people drive from Mahebourg and Curepipe to eat. The guest rooms are simple, comfortable, and decorated with a personal care that makes them feel lived-in rather than prepared. Blue Bay beach, one of Mauritius's most beautiful, is directly in front; the marine park's snorkelling with hawksbill turtles and staghorn coral is accessible without a boat. The Bay Guest House is not for guests who need a spa or room service; it is for those who want a perfect small table, a beautiful beach, and the feeling of having found somewhere genuinely theirs.
