Dining at the restaurant SHORE keeps pace with the style of the place — fresh ceviche, tuna carpaccio, grilled lobster with chilli butter — and the bar stays lively into the evening, particularly on weekends when Mauritians from Flacq drive in for sundowners. The pool is long enough to swim laps and faces directly toward the reef. What C Mauritius offers that the larger east coast properties cannot is the sense of being somewhere with a personality and a crowd rather than a product. It works especially well as a base for those who want kite-surfing by day and good food and music by night.
