Question 1

Is there good coworking infrastructure in Mauritius?

Accepted Answer

Mauritius has a growing number of modern coworking spaces, concentrated mainly in the Ebène Cybercity area, the Moka Smart City, and Grand Baie on the north coast. The government has actively promoted the island as a remote work destination through the Premium Visa programme, which has driven demand for professional flexible workspace.

Question 2

What internet connectivity can I expect at coworking spaces in Mauritius?

Accepted Answer

Established coworking spaces in Mauritius offer high-speed fibre broadband with speeds typically between 50Mbps and 1Gbps. The Ebène and Moka technology districts have the most reliable infrastructure. Mobile 4G LTE coverage from Emtel, Orange and MTML is available island-wide as a backup. Larger facilities have UPS power backup for outage resilience.

Question 3

Can I get a business address for registration purposes at a coworking space?

Accepted Answer

Yes — most professional coworking spaces in Mauritius offer virtual office packages that include a registered business address, mail handling, and call answering services. This is useful for companies registering under Mauritius law or using the island as an African operating base. Costs vary by provider and the level of service included in the package.

Question 4

What is the Mauritius Premium Visa for remote workers?

Accepted Answer

The Mauritius Premium Visa allows remote workers and digital nomads to live and work in Mauritius for up to one year, with extensions available. There is no Mauritius income tax obligation for visa holders not earning locally sourced income. The application is online and requires proof of employment or business income. Mauritius is one of the most attractive remote work destinations in the Indian Ocean region.
