The park protects the island's remaining native forests and rare endemic species including the pink pigeon, echo parakeet, and Mauritius kestrel.

Adventure activities in Mauritius typically run half-day or full-day excursions with transport included from hotels. Booking in advance is recommended during peak season (July–September). Age and fitness restrictions apply for some activities — confirm requirements when booking.

Weather in the mountains can change quickly — light rain gear is advisable for morning activities. Cyclone-risk months are December–March; all outdoor activities are suspended during cyclone warnings.
