Île aux Aigrettes

Casela Nature Parks is the most activity-packed single destination in Mauritius, combining a serious wildlife park with one of the island's best adventure sport operations. Set on the western escarpment above Tamarin overlooking the Indian Ocean, it covers 25 hectares with dramatic ravine views as the backdrop to almost everything you do here.
The wildlife encounters are the headline act. The lion walk is operated by trained handlers and allows small groups to walk alongside fully grown lions — not cubs — through the park grounds. It requires booking well in advance and is genuinely unlike anything else in Africa or Asia. Cheetah encounters run on a similar basis. Elsewhere, the park houses zebras, giraffes, white tigers, meerkats, tortoises, and over 1,500 animals and 140 species. The safari buggy tour covers the large mammal enclosures and is included in most ticket packages.
The Zip World circuit is 8 lines strung across the gorge landscape, dropping 270 metres in total and reaching speeds of 70 km/h on the longest run. Views over Black River Gorges and down to the coast are extraordinary. There are also quad bike tracks, segway trails, and a Tarzan jump for those who want more than the zip lines.
Casela works best if you book a package rather than paying per activity at the gate — the Lion Encounter + Zip World + Safari combo offers the best value and fills a full day. Book as far in advance as possible for the lion walk, which often sells out weeks ahead. The park is least crowded on weekday mornings.
