The Oberoi Mauritius has recently rocketed to no.1 in our Top 10 Mauritius Hotels and for good reasons.
Firstly we can start with the professional, courteous and immaculately presented staff.
The food was excellent in all areas from lunch, dinner, and breakfast. The dining areas were attractive, spacious and you didn't feel crammed in with the masses. Food was served A la carte which was perfectly presented and delivered with a smile.
The room had a very comfortable kingsize four-poster bed and was laid out with everything you would expect from a 5-star hotel. The plunge pool bath was a great experience and a way to chill out even further.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was spot on and that's why The Oberoi has taken 1st place ranking in our "Top 10 Hotels" in Mauritius.
I can't wait to go back.

RESTAURANT
THE GUNPOWDER ROOM
We came across the Gunpowder Room Restaurant at The Oberoi Hotel Mauritius on the way to our room have just checked in.
On passing the open entry to the Restaurant we looked inside and stopped in our tracks. The room is beautifully lit and even in the daytime, you can see how inviting it will be to sit in over an evening meal.
Seating is limited with a maximum of 12 diners at one time which makes the dining experience very intermit and cozy.
The dinner is served as a set menu with several courses and different dishes of traditional Mauritius Food. The only thing I would say is that fortunately I like spice but I was told by the waiter that it wasn't as spicy as it would be made in a Mauritian home.
The entre and appetisers were fantastic and the main course flavoursome and aromatic with the use of clove and cardamon.
The only thing that was missing was flambeing of the rum banana in front of us but that was probably asking for too much.
I look forward to returning.

LOCAL ATTRACTION
SWIMMING WITH DOLPHINS
Without a doubt, swimming with dolphins in their natural environment is an unforgettable experience. Here in Mauritius, there are many dolphin tour operators that can take to out for a few hours to enjoy this wonderful experience.
For some people the experience is something mystical, for others, it is like returning to our origins, for everybody it is a lifetime experience!
Dolphin swimming trips will last about last 3-4 hours and allow each swimmer to enter the water at least 2-3 times.
To get the most out of the experience, some confidence with fins, masks, and snorkel is useful.
