ABOUT
Positioned in the northeastern lagoon of Mauritius, is one of the largest islets belonging to the country, Ile d’Ambre. Equipped with a nature walk that starts from the beach and takes you through lush forests and creepy yet majestic ruins, this inhabited island is a popular destination for tourists as well as locals. Owing to the small size of the island, feel free to explore the forest away from the beaten path, albeit at your own risk, and discover the fauna and flora as well as the other surprises found on this islet.
There are different ways to get there, some of them including kayaking in the lagoon and going through beautiful mangroves to get to the shore of the islet. Or you can even seek a lift from any fishermen happy to provide.
Here we have provided a couple of excursion companies who specialise in the activity and can assist you further.

HOTEL
LUX LE MORNE
The Lux at Le Morne is relatively local to where I live and we try to book out weekends away on the island as often as we can within our budget and time constraints. The intention has always been to experience as much of the island as possible and take mini holidays/breaks for ourselves. This became even more important during COVID, where our thinking was "we live in paradise, so why not take a break in paradise!".
The Lux is located on one of the most beautiful spots/beaches on the island and surrounded by so many things to do and places to go. The beach is our favourite on the island ( please visit our 'Top 10 Beaches' page to see more options and I'll be down there at least once a month.
The Lux has been recently fully refurbished and I look forward to visiting it again where I'll update the review by for now all I can tell you is that I have always enjoyed the Lux Hotel Le Morne, whether it be for a day visit or overnight stay, I personally don't think you will be disappointed.

RESTAURANT
CHAMAREL RHUMERIE
Here's a tip for you, if you are going to visit, have lunch (see my review in the 'Top 10 places to eat in Mauritius'), and if you book lunch the tour is free! So, you get the tour, you taste the rum, you have a great lunch and as a bonus, they have a great gift shop so you can take some rum home with you. Whats not to like!
