Can I drive in Mauritius with my South African drivers licence?
Yes, you can. You are allowed to drive with a valid South African Driver’s Licence in Mauritius. However, renewing the licence needs to happen in South Africa and can’t be done from Mauritius.
Alternatively, many long-term expats use their licence to apply for a Mauritian Driver’s Licence, which they can do relatively simply with a few trips to the Line Barracks in Port Louis.
Every Friday, we answer a Mauritian Relocation FAQ. Feel free to send us the questions you’d like answered.
